About refurbily
A refurbished smartphone, too many open tabs, and an idea.
Hi, I’m Tobias Klemp, the developer and mind behind refurbily.
The idea for this platform came out of pure self-interest: I was looking for a refurbished smartphone myself. I quickly realized just how chaotic the market actually is. There simply wasn’t a price comparison site that gave me reliable data for the specific condition I wanted—let alone the ability to set up a smart price alert for it.
Every shop uses its own terms for cosmetic conditions, provides different details about battery health, and prices things completely differently. As a user, you're left wondering: Is this actually a good deal, or is there something better out there? To find out, I had to keep countless tabs open and painstakingly compare data manually.
As a software developer with a background in e-commerce and platform software, I thought to myself: There has to be a better way. What started as a small tool for myself is today refurbily. I currently run the site entirely on my own as a side project—out of conviction and because I genuinely enjoy making complex data easily accessible for you.
What refurbily does differently
Standard price comparison sites usually only show the absolute lowest price for a brand-new product. That doesn’t work for refurbished tech, because the condition determines the price. refurbily tackles exactly this problem:
Precise Condition Search: Looking for an iPhone in "Very Good" condition? We will only show you the prices and historical data for that exact condition.
Accurate Price History: Thanks to precise data tracking, you can immediately see whether the current price is a true bargain or if it pays to wait a little longer.
Smart Price Alerts: Set targeted alerts for your exact desired configuration and only buy when the price is right for you.
Giving tech a second life: A logical win-win
For me personally, refurbily is also a passion project when it comes to sustainability. I always find it hard to buy something new when the device I already have is still working perfectly fine.
Nowadays, the performance leaps between the latest smartphone or laptop generation and the models from the last one or two years are often minimal. So why spend a fortune on the absolute newest model when you can get excellent tech for a fraction of the cost and give it a second life at the same time?
Refurbished tech is the perfect sweet spot: you save hard-earned money, conserve our planet's valuable resources, and still don't have to compromise on top quality. It's a true win-win situation.
Transparency & Financing
To ensure that refurbily remains 100% free for you and to help me cover the server costs, the site is funded through affiliate links. If you buy a product through a link on this site, I receive a small commission from some of the shops.
The most important part: This doesn't change the price for you at all. More importantly, this commission has zero influence on how prices are sorted on refurbily. As a developer, the mathematical accuracy and independence of the data are sacred to me. Whatever is listed at the top is genuinely the best deal for you.
Thank you so much for using refurbily! If you have any feedback, feature requests, or questions, feel free to reach out.
